Jamar Shegog and Ricardo Watson named to 2021 All-Big South Second Team

Two members of the RMU football team were named to the 2021 All-Big South Second Team on Tuesday evening.

Redshirt sophomores Jamar Shegog and defensive lineman Ricardo Watson each received the honors after a vote by league head coaches.

Shegog played in every game this season for the Colonials. The Pittsburgh native led RMU in tackles with 48. He also recorded nine tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

In his 14 games at Robert Morris, he recorded 107 tackles with an average of 7.64 per contest, including 54 solo takedowns.

In the season opener against Central Michigan on September 11th, Shegog recorded a career-high of 18 stops. He also registered 10 tackles at North Alabama on November 6.

Shegog finished his sophomore season ranked fifth in the Big South in tackles per game with 7.8.

Ricardo Watson also played in all 10 games of the season for RMU. In his sophomore season, he recorded 36 tackles which included 26 solo takedowns. He finished the season with a forced fumble, an interception, and two quarterback hurries.

The Florida State transfer posted a pair of sacks in a game on three occasions this year. The first was on September 25th when the Colonials defeated Howard 22-16. He also recorded a pair of sacks on the road against Gardner-Webb on October 23rd and Monmouth on November 13th, recording 7.5 sacks on the year.

In his 13 games as a Colonial, Watson has recorded 49 tackles, including eight-and-a-half sacks.
