Despite a shortened 2021 season due to COVID-19, the Robert Morris football team is earning awards. Freshman linebacker Jamar Shegog has been named to the HERO Sports FCS Freshman All-America Team.

The Pittsburgh native and Seton LaSalle alumni sat out all of 2020, making him a redshirt freshman this past season. In the three games for the Colonials, Shegog was second on the team in tackles with 28 and 12 of those as solo tackles. Shegog also added a forced fumble, fumble recovery, and a pass break-up.

Against James Madison, Shegog earned his first sack at RMU. He also added seven tackles in that game. Against Kennesaw State and Charleston Southern, he ended the year on a high note with thirteen tackles. Shegog was a massive part of the RMU defensive side of the ball.

As the Colonials look to establish themselves in the Big South, Shegog will be a big part of that for RMU’s defense.
