With the Professional Women’s Hockey League set to start up soon, more former Colonials are getting the nod as two defensemen were invited to training camp rosters. Those Colonials are Emily Curlett and Megan Eady, heading to New York’s team, who has yet to receive a name.

Curlett was a Colonial from 2017-2021, as she played her entire college hockey career at Robert Morris. As a Colonial, she played in 130 career games for Robert Morris. She tallied 43 goals and 48 assists in her time.

She had an impressive 17 goals and 19 assists in her junior year at Robert Morris. Curlett was a significant factor in the Colonials’ run to the NCAA tournament in 2021, where they would ultimately lose in the first round to Northeastern.

The other Colonial making New York’s opening training camp roster is another defenseman, Megan Eady. Eady played hockey for Robert Morris from 2012 to 2015. In the 2014-15 season, she had her best year for the Colonials, having no goals and eight assists.

Eady was a true defenseman, and she was one of the leaders in hits for Robert Morris. She had 39 blocks to her name as well. She played in all 35 games in the 2014-15 season for the Colonials and finished with a plus-minus of +3 on the year.

These two talented players will look to get on New York’s roster for the inaugural season of the PWHL. The PWHL is set to start in January of 2024.
