Dale Starr named head coach of Western Illinois volleyball

MACOMB, Ill.– On Wednesday, it was announced that former Robert Morris head volleyball coach Dale Starr has officially accepted a head coaching position, replacing Ben Staupe at Western Illinois’ program.

After the announcement of no renewal of his contract after the 2021 season, Starr obtained the new position to continue his coaching career with the Leathernecks.

He completed his 11th season this past fall and hopes to continue his success furthermore at WIU.

However, Starr’s run with the Colonials does not go unnoted. He is the program’s all-time coaching wins leader, gained an NEC Tournament championship in 2015, was named 2019 NEC Regular Season Champions as well as named the NEC Coach of the Year.

In addition, Starr coached Robert Morris to a 2015 NCAA Tournament berth and an overall 169-191 record in his tenure.

The Colonials recently hired former assistant coach Danny Doherty to usher in a new era of Robert Morris volleyball.
