HALIFAX, N.S.– After the announcement which delayed the potential reinstatement of the Robert Morris men’s and women’s hockey teams to the 2022-23 season, yet another player has found a home; this time, in the form of defenseman David Lafrance.

Lafrance, a six-foot one-inch defender from Ottawa, Ontario signed with the QMJHL’s Halifax Mooseheads on Monday. Last season, the Mooseheads finished 15-19-5-4, missing out on the playoffs in the COVID-shortened season. Lafrance joins a Mooseheads squad that includes Zach L’Heureux who was drafted 27th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Last season with the Colonials, the 20-year-old Lafrance scored four points (1 G, 3 A) in 14 games played. His lone goal of his NCAA career was scored in a 5-4 overtime win against the Niagara Purple Eagles on January 9, 2021.

Before his time in Moon Township, Lafrance spent parts of four seasons in the Central Canada Hockey League with the Rockland Nationals and Gloucester Rangers, where he scored 44 points (7 G, 37 A) in 111 games.
