After their 2020-21 campaign fell short against Niagara in the Atlantic Hockey Tournament, the Robert Morris men’s hockey team has bolstered their roster for 2021-22, adding Mickey Burns, a forward from the University of Vermont, per Brad Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald.

In his first season with the Catamounts, Burns skated in only five games, tallying zero points. However, the season prior, Burns captained the Jersey Hitmen of the National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC), scoring 45 goals and 77 points in 50 games. He made the All-Star team twice and won NCDC Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player in 2019-20.

He played his high school career at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey, where he was named New Jersey HS Player of the Year in 2018.

The Colonials have had success with transfers the past few years, as both goaltender Justin Kapelmaster (Ferris State) and forward Jordan Timmons (UConn) proved to be big assets to the team, and Burns fits that mold with the pedigree he brings in.
