Men’s hockey announces captains for upcoming season

MOON TOWNSHIP — On Wednesday morning, the Robert Morris men’s hockey announced via Twitter that forward Nick Prkusic and defenseman Nick Jenny will serve as co-captains during the 2020-21 season. Additionally, forward Aidan Spellacy and defenseman Brendan Michaelian will serve as alternate captains.

In addition to the four captains, the Colonials also announced that juniors Justin Addamo and Nolan Schaeffer will serve in a leadership capacity. They will be serving as members of the internal Leadership Group.

Nick Prkusic, who served as one of three co-captains last season, led the Colonials in both total points (28) and goals (11). The senior forward also led the team in assists with 17.

Nick Jenny led Colonials blueliners in points-per-game last season with 0.41 PPG. The lone senior defender also finished third on the team in goals with seven. He fired 47 shots on goal during his junior season.

Aidan Spellacy put up five goals and 12 points last season. The junior forward also recorded three multi-point games and two game-winning goals last season.

Brendan Michaelian led all defensemen on the roster in total scoring, posting 12 points in 37 games. Michaelian, a junior, was named AHA Defensive Player of the Week on January 20th, 2020.

Justin Addamo ranked third on the team in points with 19 in his sophomore season. He also led the team in shots on goal with 97 in 2019-20.

Nolan Schaeffer blocked 68 shots last season, second-most among defensemen on the Colonials’ roster, trailing only Sean Giles (75). The junior recorded one goal in addition to four points last season.

The Colonials will kick off their season this Saturday, November 21 when they host Alabama-Huntsville at home and have their leadership squad named for the next season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
