Here is a quick round-up on the games that RMU Sentry Media couldn’t get a reporter to.

12/30/18:

Men’s Hockey: RMU – 3; AIC – 1

On the day before New Year’s Eve, the Robert Morris Colonials (8-9-1, 7-6-1 AHC) were able to salvage the second game of a weekend set when they defeated the American International College Yellow Jackets (8-8-1, 8-5-1 AHC) in AHC play. The Colonials won by a final of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The scoring kicked off with the Yellow Jackets’ lone goal of the game in the first period when Janis Jaks scored on a power play goal at 8:51 with assistance from both Chris Theodore and Jeff Baum. The Colonials began the salvaging in the second period when Alex Tonge scored at 9:32 with help from Michael Louria, tying the score at 1-1. The last two goals RMU gathered were in the third period. RMU’s second goal happened in scorching fashion when the Colonials were able to score just eight seconds into the third period by Alex Tonge for his second goal of the afternoon, taking a 2-1 lead. The final goal of the game didn’t occur until just before the end of the period when Luke Lynch scored on an empty net goal, taking a 3-1 lead and winning the final game of the weekend for Robert Morris.

RMU moves on to play in the Three Rivers Classic, starting with Brown University (3-7-3, 2-4-3 ECAC), on Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township. Depending on the outcome of that game, they will take on the winner/loser of No. 1 St. Cloud State (13-1-2, 6-0-2 NCHC) and No. 14 Union College (9-4-4, 3-4-1 ECACH) on Jan. 5 at an undetermined time at PPG Paints Arena in Downtown Pittsburgh.
