Giampietro is having a stellar season for the Colonials, leading the team in goals and sitting third in assists. She is ranked fifth in the CHA in goals per game and eighth in goals overall. She also ranks third in shots with 130 and an average of five shots a game.
The Ohio native spent last season at Ohio State before transferring to RMU, a decision that’s worked out well for the freshman. Giampietro has collected Rookie of the Week three times from the CHA and already has an HCA Rookie of the Month from October.
The winner will be voted at the end of the season, where every team will vote for their rookie of the year. The chosen player will be announced during the Frozen Four tournament in March.
Giampietro will look to keep building her case when RMU takes on RIT in an away series. The Colonials will travel to Rochester tomorrow for a 6 p.m. puck drop before facing them on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m.
