The Robert Morris women’s soccer team’s coaching staff has a new face. Head coach Chris Shaw announced on Monday that Pittsburgh native Brianna Murgi had been an assistant coach for the club for the upcoming 2022 fall season.

Murgi spent the past two seasons as an assistant with Westminster College, where she helped guide the Titans to a 22-5-2 overall record during her time with the program. Westminster finished with a 16-3-1 overall record in 2021 and secured the PAC regular-season championship with an undefeated 9-0 record in conference play.

Murgi also served as a coach for various clubs and camps as the 2003/2004 Girls head coach for Century Steel Soccer since 2020 and the 2006 Girls assistant Coach.

Before beginning her coaching career, Murgi was a four-year starter at Wheeling Jesuit University. She surpassed 5,600 minutes of playing time and was named captain in her junior season in 2018.

She was also a decorated student-athlete in high school as she won the PIAA Class AAA state title in 2015 with Upper St. Clair and finished as a WPIAL finalist earning all-section honors.

After posting just a 1-8 overall record in their first season in the Horizon League in the shortened 2021 season, Robert Morris goes into their third season in the conference after posting a 6-10-3 overall record and a 2-6-3 record in conference play.
