The Colonials glided by Green Bay as they coasted to a 7-1 victory Wednesday afternoon in an elimination game in the Horizon League Tournament.

The first inning was reasonably quiet for both teams, but the Colonials woke up the bats in the bottom of the second inning, putting up three runs.

The scoring started when Alaina York singled up the middle, scoring Meadow Sacadura. The bats continued to impress in the inning as Alaina Koutsogiani singled to left field, scoring Anna Resnik and Charlotte Grover.

The Colonials continued their scoring spree in the bottom of the third inning when they tacked on three more runs, thanks to an Erika Bell double, followed by a Taylor Rhinehart, and Sacadura singled, who got it done with the bats for RMU in the inning.

In the top of the fifth inning, Green Bay got something going with the sticks as Tiffany Gies singled to left, and both Katie Joten and Randi McKay reached on fielder’s choices.

Green Bay was finally able to break through when they could push one run across the plate. The run came from a Tiffany Gies single to left field, scoring Samantha Soloun from third base.

RMU answered in the bottom of the sixth inning as Catalina Saxen blasted a solo shot over the wall to get the run right back from the Phoneix.

The Colonials ended the day with 11 hits, and no errors, while Green Bay tallied one run on three hits while committing two errors in the field.

The Colonials will advance in the Horizon League Tournament to play Cleveland State on Friday, May 13. The first pitch is scheduled at noon.
