The Robert Morris softball team was selected third in the Horizon League preseason poll, the conference announced Wednesday.

The Colonials were picked third after receiving 64 votes.

This comes from a great season in 2023 for the Colonials that ended earlier than they would have hoped when Youngstown State eliminated them in the Horizon League Tournament.

Head Coach Jexx Varner will be at the helm again for Robert Morris with 19 returning players, three freshmen, and one transfer. The Colonials will have the same squad rolling into play this year.

The Colonials are returning Horizon League All-Academic Team honorees Jane Garver and Anna Resnik and honorable mention Julia Ehrman.

The team is also headlined by junior utility player Alaina Koutsogiani, who has already set a program record in stolen bases.

RMU will open play this Friday as they have gotten an invite to the Terrier Invite Tournament. They will play George Mason on Friday, and during the weekend, they will play Wofford and Eastern Kentucky.
