Colonials to square off against Penn State in Morgantown

Robert Morris volleyball is looking to get in the win column for the first time against the Nittany Lions in program history on Friday, September 17, in Morgantown West Virginia. Early Monday afternoon, Penn State volleyball, a member of the Big Ten, released their 2021-22 season schedule, which includes a non-conference neutral site matchup against RMU.

The last matchup between the two teams dates back to September 5th, 2009 when the Colonials suffered a 3-0 loss to the Nittany Lions. Penn State has a 4-0-0 record against the Colonials in their four meetings. The two teams’ first matchup was back on December 3rd, 1999 at University Park with PSU earning the 3-0 victory.

Penn State finished the 2020-21 season 10-6 overall and 9-5 in Big Ten play. They made it to the regional semifinal of the NCAA tournament but were eliminated after a 3-1 loss to The University of Texas at Austin.

The Colonials finished the season with a 4-12 record both overall and in conference play. The Colonials won 3-0 in game one of a doubleheader against Northern Kentucky on March 22. Despite a comeback from the Colonials in the fourth set of game two, the Norse won the match 25-20, ending the season for the Colonials.
