Earlier this week, the Robert Morris women’s soccer team was ranked 11th out of 12 teams in the Horizon League preseason poll. The Colonials were given a total of 35 points in the poll. The rankings are voted on by 12 of the league’s head women’s soccer coaches.

Milwaukee was ranked first with a total of 132 points. Milwaukee defeated the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) 2-0 in the conference championship and received their twelfth tournament championship in school history. Tournament MVP Haley Johnson and Horizon League All-Tournament Team members Mackenzie Schill and Elaina LaMacchia will be among the returners for the Panthers.
IUPUI was voted second with 118 points. The Jaguars ended the 2019 season with a conference record of 6-3-0. Freshman of the Year and Horizon League All-Freshman selection Maya Lacognato will be among the returners for the Jaguars.
In their first game in the Horizon League, Robert Morris suffered a 5-1 loss against Milwaukee, giving them a 0-1-0 record in conference play. They finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 6-10-2 and a 4-5-1 record in the conference.
The Colonials had an offseason of change with the addition of head coach Chris Shaw. Shaw was the head coach at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) and earned a record of 66-48-9.
Robert Morris has three returning seniors, Keli Rosensteel, Brittany O’Connell, and Sydney Bruckner. O’Connell was the lead scorer for the Colonials in the 2019 season, recording three goals and two assists.
The Colonials look to get their first win of the season Wednesday, February 10 as they travel to Canonsburg, Pennsylvania to take on Northern Kentucky.
