Senior safety earns student-athlete of the week honors

Since joining the Robert Morris football team, senior safety Cameron Chadwick has made a significant impact in the Colonials’ secondary. Last week against the defending national champions, North Dakota State, Chadwick recorded a game-high twelve tackles.

“It was a tough game, they came out hard. It was a wake-up call.” Chadwick said. “Actually it was a positive to get things right before we get on the field.”

The junior college transfer tallied double-digit tackles for the fourth time in his last seven games. With the increased productivity comes an increased sense of responsibility.

“I’m definitely trying to increase my leadership role,” Chadwick said. “Just to be on everyone’s butt, really, on the field, off the field. To always be encouraging my brothers on the field.”

A year of experience can go a long way and Chadwick has naturally progressed in Scott Farison’s scheme, now turning his attention to his teammates. With last week behind them, the Colonials open Northeast Conference (NEC) play against the defending champs, Albany.

“We understand where they’re at and where they’re coming from, but we definitely feel we have an up on this team,” Chadwick said.

The game against Albany is also RMU’s home opener. Kickoff is set for Noon at Joe Walton Stadium.
