The RMU Colonials women’s ice hockey took the ice against the Brown University Bears in a game that ended 3-2 in favor of the Colonials. Brown struck first with a goal from Veronica Alois assisted by Alley Rempe and Kaitijane Blumberg at 3:21 in the first period to take an early one-goal lead. Brown added to the lead six minutes later with a goal by Sam Donovan with Sena Hanson and Maybelline Beiring picking up the assists. Not to be outdone, Colonials forward Brittany Howard answered back with a goal assisted by Jaycee Gebhard just ten seconds later, cutting the Bears’ lead in half at 2-1. Tying the game up for Robert Morris was Amber Rennie who tickled the twine at 7:21 in the third period with assists from Brittany Howard and Jaycee Gebhard. Preventing overtime was RMU’s own Natalie Fraser who scored a clutch goal with only two seconds left in the game, assisted by Maggie Lague. The Colonials improve their record to 5-1-0 this year while the Bears fall to 0-2-0. The road ahead for the Colonials has them facing off against the Penn State Nittany Lions Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Penn State.
