The Northeast Conference announced Monday that three Robert Morris football players have earned weekly recognition for their impact in the Colonials’ 27-24 comeback win over Central Connecticut State.

Defensive end Forrest Mason was named NEC Defensive Player of the Week after his sack-and-strip of CCSU quarterback Nick SanGiacomo in the fourth quarter led to the game-winning touchdown for Robert Morris. The senior also recovered the fumble on the play, and posted eight tackles in the win.

Wide receiver Nic Lamica earned NEC Rookie of the Week after his breakout eight catch, 112-yard performance. Lamica beat two CCSU defenders to haul in a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derik Abbott with 7:04 left in the fourth quarter. It’s only his third game at the position after switching from outside linebacker midseason.

Senior kicker Hunter Khaleghi was tabbed NEC Special Teams Player of the Week after breaking a school record by going a perfect 4-of-4  field goals. He connected on a career-long 42-yarder in the second quarter, and also landed a successful onside kick in the first.

Robert Morris looks next to a weekend roadtrip as they take on Bryant this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
