Female Student Athlete of the Week:Kristen DiCiocco

This past weekend, Robert Morris women’s ice hockey swept Penn State, winning 4-1 on Friday night, followed by a 4-2 victory on Saturday evening. The Colonials were led by senior net-minder Kristen DiCiocco.

“The team played awesome. We were able to get a lot of shots on net, generate quite a few goals and capitalize on the power play, as well. It was exciting to get the sweep again,” said DiCiocco.

With Friday’s win, DiCiocco became the all-time career leader for wins with 33, breaking the previous record held by assistant coach Brianne McLaughlin.

“Well, I think it just shows how far RMU women’s hockey has come since Bri,” she said. “It was unbelievable that she was able to do so much for the team, and it just shows how great of a team I have in front of me to help me get those wins.”

Coming up this weekend, the Colonials will take on the Lindenwood Lions in the first round of the CHA tournament.

“They’re a really hard working team. I think it’s going to be a close game. It’s going to be a battle, so we’ve just got to find a way to capitalize,” said DiCiocco.
