On Monday, College Hockey America (CHA) released their Players of the Week for the Oct. 6-8 games. Two Colonial wingers would come away with the awards as sophomore forward Morgan Giannone would take home Offensive Player of the Week, and linemate freshman Janelle Evans received Rookie of the Week honors.

St. Lawrence transfer Giannone, coming off of her two-goal and two-assist weekend at Union, including the overtime winner, looked to double up her performance against Saint Anselm. She did that as she had a goal and two assists in both outings against the Hawks.

Giannone now sits atop the point total for the Colonials with 10 in just four games. This is Giannone’s second time winning the award so far this season.

On the opposite side of Giannone is Saskatchewan native Evans, who tallied a goal and assist in Schenectady last weekend. Evans would significantly impact the Colonials’ return to home ice for the first time in 952 days. Evans would find the back of the net twice while collecting three apples. Evans is behind Giannone for the team lead in points with seven in four games.

Giannone and Evans will look to continue their strong start as they, alongside the rest of the Colonials, will travel to New Jersey to take on Princeton this weekend.
