The CHA unveiled the preseason coaches poll for the 2023-24 season. The refurbished Robert Morris women’s ice hockey program is number three.

The Colonials sit behind the two other Pennsylvania teams, Penn State and Mercyhurst. Penn State is the current defending champions, as they defeated Mercyhurst 2-1 in overtime last season. They received five of the six votes to claim the number one spot.

Colonials sit ahead of RIT, Lindenwood, and the team they defeated in the 2021 CHA championship game, Syracuse.

The last time Robert Morris took part in CHA action, the game concluded with the Colonials holding a trophy over their heads. The team they have assembled for 2023 includes four players from the 2021 championship team: Ally Hebert, Wasyn Rice, Gillian Thompson, and Chase Sperling.

The Colonials start their season on the road, facing Union College on September 29. About a month later will be their first CHA matchup as they will meet Mercyhurst in Erie on Oct. 27
