Last season was the Colonials’ second season in the Horizon League and head coach Danny Doherty finished his first full season as a head coach. The team struggled as the squad went went 9-21 and 2-16 in conference play.
The roster for this year will look relatively the same as the only member to graduate was outside hitter Alyssa Hudak. Annie Monaco and Page Gross were the two players to transfer elsewhere. Monaco went south to West Florida and Gross transferred to West Liberty.
Notable returners will be senior Abby Ryan who was in the top five in the conference in kills per set, and sophomore Kaitlyn Brown who also was top five in the Horizon in assist per set.
This year the Colonials look to add more of a youth movement, as three new freshmen look to join the roster. Natalie Stepanovich from Canton, Ohio, Lindsey Scammell from Stuart, Fla., and Katie Cook from Denver, N.C. all look to help the team bounce back this year.
With the Blue Hen Invitational starting Saturday in Newark, Del., the Colonials look to start their season on the right foot with a matchup against Loyola (MD).
