The conference announced that the schedule would feature a 20-game double-round robin in 11 weeks, starting on Nov. 29 for up to two games and resuming on Dec. 28. The regular season finale on March 2 with the opening rounds of the conference tournament will take place on March 5 and 7 with the semifinals and championship game in Indianapolis on March 11-12.
The schedule features some tough matchups for the Colonials, including a rematch on the road against Cleveland State on Jan. 28, 2024. In the past two years, the Vikings ended RMU’s season in the Horizon League Tournament quarterfinals.
Robert Morris’s first Horizon League matchup will be against the conference tournament champions, Northern Kentucky, on Nov. 29. The Colonials struggled against Northern Kentucky last year, dropping both games to the Norse.
Some other matchups to look out for include Youngstown State, who was at the top of the standings last season. The Colonials will first have this matchup at home on Dec. 2. RMU split the two games they played against the Penguins last year.
The Colonials will face another test when they take on Milwaukee, a team who finished the season second in the standings last year. The Colonials split the season series with the Panthers.
The Colonials will have a challenging three games to start conference play. They will play at Northern Kentucky, home against Youngstown State, and then on the road to play Milwaukee.
Oakland has been an entertaining matchup for the Colonials featuring two close games last season. The Golden Grizzlies finished ahead of the Colonials in the Horizon League standings and the two teams will face off on Feb. 1.
The Colonials hope to improve on back-to-back quarterfinals appearances in the Horizon League Tournament.
