In a vote amongst the MAC head coaches, Robert Morris women’s lacrosse Kathleen Kelly was crowned the MAC Defensive Player of the Year award.

This season, Kelly was key to the Colonials’ success, anchoring the team’s defense. She is just one of six players this season to start in every game.

The junior defender ranks fourth on the team with 10 caused turnovers, eight of them came against conference opponents. Kelly went on a five-game stretch, causing a turnover in each of the five games earlier in the season.

The Cincinnati, Ohio native collected 11 ground balls and one draw control for Robert Morris.

Kelly and the Colonials prepare to defend their conference title, as they are set to host the MAC Tournament starting on Thursday when they take on Youngstown State.
