“We are extremely excited to have Brenna’s experience, leadership and overall good qualities as a person on the team,” assistant coach Brianna Murgi said on Twitter. “She’s going to be an excellent addition to the GK squad!”
During her first season at UNC Charlotte in 2019, Murray stepped onto the field in four matches, including three against Conference USA opponents. She recorded one save in each appearance against Middle Tennessee and Old Dominion, and she had her career-high 27 minutes in her debut against Campbell.
She redshirted her sophomore year and also did not see match action in 2021, but she was back on the pitch in 2022 as she played her way into starting goalkeeper role.
In that 2022 season Murray appeared in 12 matches while starting the final 11 matches of the season and she posted a 1.13 goals against average and a .755 save percentage with three clean sheets. She made a career-best six saves at UAB and made four stops in the C-USA Tournament quarterfinal match against top-seeded Rice.
While at Leesville Road High School in Raleigh NC, she was named the 2019 High School OT Women’s Player of the Year and to the 2019 HSOT All-Eastern Team. During her senior year Murray recorded a 0.25 goals-against average with 16 shutouts and 56 saves, allowing only five goals all season.
Murray will bring her experience and final two years of eligibility from her home in North Carolina to the Colonials.
