On Monday, RMU Athletics officially announced that Robert Morris will host the ASUN Men’s Lacrosse Championships from May 2-7 at Joe Walton Stadium.

The Colonials are defending champions of the conference, securing an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament, before falling to Delaware in the opening round.

“We’re very excited,” Senior Associate Athletic Director Marty Galosi told Colonial Sports Network. “We believe this is a major step in our program and our city hosting it. We were working hard for it to come here as we wanted to show commitment on our part.”

Galosi also said it will benefit the city with all of the ASUN members coming from cities like Jacksonville, Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs to Moon Township’s hotels and restaurants.

“We’re excited about hosting the ASUN men’s lacrosse tournament and putting on a first-class event at Joe Walton Stadium,” Vice President and Director of Athletics Chris King said. “Having seen lacrosse grow both regionally and nationally in recent years, in addition to the success our men’s program has had in reaching the NCAA Tournament twice in the last five years, provides RMU the opportunity to showcase our program, campus and region in a championship environment.”

This will be the first time an ASUN university will be hosting the conference tournament as the inaugural tournament in 2022 was in Huntsville, Ala.
