The Robert Morris women’s hockey team continues to add depth to their roster as forward Jersey Phillips has committed to Robert Morris University via the transfer portal Friday afternoon after spending three years at Mercyhurst University.

The forward appeared in 27 games for the Lakers last season while recording three assists, 14 shots on goal, and one blocked shot.

Phillips brings versatility to the Colonials’ roster. She is listed as a forward, but rotated between the forward and defenseman positions during her sophomore season in 2021-22. She recorded one goal, three assists, and had 27 shots on goal during that season.

Phillips, despite being listed at just five-foot three, showed her defensive prowess as a sophomore as she provided nine blocks for the Lakers during the 2021-22 season.

While Phillips brings some veteran depth to the Colonials, she also brings leadership experience, as she was named team captain during her high school playing days for the Buffalo Regals of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

As the Colonials continue to bolster their roster for the upcoming season, Phillips provides Robert Morris with a good mix of veteran experience, leadership, and versatility as she enters her fourth season of college hockey.
