2020-21 Robert Morris Men’s Hockey: Where Are They Now?

Cameron Macariola

It has been two years since we saw the Robert Morris men’s ice hockey team take their last steps off the ice at the Robert Morris Island Sports Complex. With that being said, let’s take a look back as to where the 2020-21 team ended up and what they have been up to today.

#2 Brendon Michaelian

Michaelian would transfer to Ferris State and play for the Bulldogs for one season and put up 13 points in 34 games before returning to the Atlantic Hockey joining Mercyhurst as a graduate student where he would appear in 18 games and record seven assists and 24 blocked shots.

#3 Nolan Schaeffer

Schaeffer would remain at Robert Morris and graduate in 2022.

#4 Tyler Love

After his two years at Robert Morris, Love would transfer to NCAA Division lll, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Love would record three points in each of his two years as a member of the Blugolds

#5 David Lafrance

Lafrance would return to Canada and played a season in the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads in 2021-22, recording 14 points in 68 games. Lafrance would then join the University of Ottawa for the 2022-23 season appearing in only two games.

#6 Darcy Walsh

Walsh would return to Canada and play for the North Dundas Rockets Senior in 2022-23. He would score four goals and record three assists in four games played. On March 26, Walsh signed with Adelaide Adrenaline of the AIHL in Australia.

#7 Nick Jenny

Jenny was the captain of the team in 2020-21. He remained at Robert Morris and graduated in 2022.

#8 Aidan Spellacy

Following the cutting of the program, Spellacy would transfer to St. Cloud State University. There he would record one point in 19 games in 2021-22. In the 2022-23 campaign, he scored four goals and registered eight assists in 35 games for the Huskies.

#9 Jordan Timmons

Timmons would transfer to Long Island University where he put up eight goals and eight assists in 29 games. Following the conclusion of the NCAA season, he would sign with the Idaho Steelhead. In six games, Timmons would score a goal and have two assists. In 2022-23 Timmons signed with the Reading Royals before moving to the Kansas City Mavericks.

#10 Nick Lalonde

Lalonde remained at Robert Morris and graduated in 2022.

#11 Brian Kramer

Kramer would stay within Atlantic Hockey Association and transfer to AIC where, in the last two seasons, he would appear in 71 games and record 34 points. Kramer would win the Atlantic Hockey championship in 2022, helping the Yellow Jackets win their third straight title.

#12 Garrett Clegg

Clegg would transfer out of Robert Morris and go to SUNY-Oswego. Clegg played 28 games and score seven goals and accumulate six assists during his time with the Lakers. Clegg recently signed with Amals SK, a Division II team in Sweden, for the 2023-24 season.

#14 Grant Hebert

Grant would transfer out of the Robert Morris program and join Hockey East’s University of Maine. In his first season, Hebert scored seven goals and registered nine assists in 29 games. In the 2022-23 season, Hebert only played eight games before signing with the Allen Americans of the ECHL. Since joining the Americans, Hebert has recorded seven goals and 13 assists in 29 games.

#15 Roman Kraemer

Kraemer would stay at Robert Morris and join the University’s ACHA Dl club team. Kramer would record 29 goals and register 34 assists in 30 games in his first season in ACHA, and 33 goals and 36 assists in 31 games in 2022-23. Kramer would win CHMA’s player of the year for both seasons.

#16 Nick Prkusic

The former Colonial captain would play three games with the Milestone Flyers of the QVHHL in 2021-22 recording a point in each game. In the 2022-23 season, Prkusic returned to his former club the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL as an assistant coach.

#18 Gavin Gulash

Gulash remained at Robert Morris and will be a part of next season’s team.

#19 Randy Hernandez

Hernandez would stay within the Atlantic Hockey Association as he would transfer to Canisius. In his first season, Hernandez only appeared in 10 games recording, two goals and two assists. In 2022-23, Hernandez appeared in 40 games and record eight goals and 13 assists. Canisius would go on to win the Atlantic Hockey Championship in 2023.

#20 Cameron Hebert

Herbert remained at Robert Morris and will be a part of next season’s team.

#21 Justin Addamo

Addamo would transfer to RPI following the 2020-21 season. At RPI Addamo recorded 14 goals and five assists in 42 games. Addamo would then sign with the Wheeling Nailers in 2022 where he put up 21 goals and 12 assists in 42 games, earning a call-up to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In his 14 games in the AHL, Addamo recorded five goals.

#22 Matthew Guerra

Guerra would transfer to Holy Cross following one season at Robert Morris. In his first season with the Crusaders, Guerra would record seven goals and 11 assists in 36 games. In his junior season, Guerra would record another seven goals and add 16 helpers in 41 games. The Crusaders would fall in the Atlantic Hockey championship to Canisius.

#23 Geoff Lawson

Lawson stayed at Robert Morris and graduated in 2022.

#24 Kyler Head

Following one year at Robert Morris, Head would transfer up I-79 and join Mercyhurst’s program. Head has spent the last two seasons there and recorded eight goals and five assists in his most recent season with the Lakers.

#25 Bradley Stonnell

Stonnell would transfer to NCAA Division lll, University of Wisconsin-Superior. In the 2022-23 season, Stonnell would tally a goal and seven assists in 26 games. Following his time there Stonnell would join the Evansville Thunderbolts of the SPHL.

#26 Santeri Hartikainen

Hartikainen would transfer to AIC where, in six games, he would record three assists. Following the year at AIC Hartikainen transferred to LIU. Hartikainen recorded three assists in 22 games as a Shark.

#27 Matt Hutton

Hutton remained at Robert Morris and will be a part of next season’s team.

#30 Reid Cooper

Following his three seasons at Robert Morris, Cooper would transfer to, NCAA Division lll, Curry College. In his first season at Curry College, Cooper would play in 19 games where he would post a 2.14 goals against average (GAA) and a .918 save percentage (SV%). In his second season at Curry College, Cooper would go 20-6-1 with a 1.92 GAA and .935 SV%.

#31 Noah West

West would transfer to the University of Michigan where he would appear in five games in his two years there. In his three games started in 2022-23, West went 1-1-1 with a 2.92 Goals Against Average and a .920 save percentage. West has recently entered his name in the transfer portal. Meanwhile West and the rest of the Wolverines will head down to Tampa, Fla. for the Frozen Four.

#35 Dyllan Lubbesmeyer

Following the 2020-21 season, Lubbesmeyer would be signed by the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.

#44 Quinn Warmuth

Warmuth would transfer to NCAA Division lll SUNY-Oswego. In his first season there, Warmuth recorded five points in 20 games. In his senior season, Warmuth recorded six goals and nine assists for the Lakers.

With a full roster turnaround, we will see how Robert Morris will succeed two years after the programs being discontinued.
