Spear, Cheeks Named to All-Horizon League Teams

On Monday, the Horizon League announced its All-Conference teams which included graduate senior Kahliel Spear and junior Enoch Cheeks.

Spear was named to All-Horizon League Second Team and All-Defensive Team, as Cheeks was named to All-Horizon League Third Team.
Spear has been the leader for this Colonials team, eclipsing the 1,000-point mark earlier this season and averaging 15.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, one steal, and over a block a game. The Colony, Texas native started all 31 games this season for RMU and ranks 10th in the league in scoring and fifth in rebounding and is seventh in the conference with 51.1 percent from the field.
On the defensive end, Spear set a program record in blocks surpassing the 90-career block mark earlier in the season. He has 99 career blocks in his career in a Colonial uniform, including a single-season program record 41 this season.
Enoch Cheeks earned his first career All-Horizon League team with a breakout junior season. He led the team in scoring, putting up 16 points a game. He also leads the team in steals (55) and ranks second in assists (99) and blocks (36).
The Providence, R.I. native had double figures in scoring in each of his first 17 games of the season, including scoring a career-high 24 points against Purdue Fort Wayne on Dec. 29.
The Colonials face off against the IUPUI Jaguars in the first round of the Barbasol Horizon League Tournament tomorrow night at the UPMC Events Center at 7 p.m.
