The fifth year forward is receiving his second straight Horizon League All-Academic Team award and his seventh award in the past two seasons.
Spear has been a consistent physical presence for the Colonials during his time at Robert Morris University. He has played in all 62 contests over the past two years averaging 15 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in that span, while also setting the all time mark for blocks in a Colonials uniform with 97.
He is a consistent force in the classroom as well, as Spear holds a 3.91 GPA well within the 3.20 to 4.00 requirement to be eligible for the honor.
Spear has had a very memorable 2022-23 campaign surpassing 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds. He is also close to having 100 blocks as a Colonial although he already has 127 total in his career. Now he adds an All-Academic Team selection to an already impressive season.
In addition, the Colonials have won four in a row including two convincing wins against two of the top three teams in the conference proving they can beat anyone in the conference and igniting optimism going into a tournament that could land this team in March Madness.
Do not be surprised if there are more honors coming Spear’s way with several more academic awards to go out and Horizon League all-conference teams coming soon.
Colonial fans can see Spear’s last regular season action of his career tonight on ESPN+ at 7:30 when RMU travels to face IUPUI at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
