Freshman midfielder Elisa Corvalan received an invitation to train with the Chilean La Roja Femenina under-20 team. Corvalan came to RMU from Las Vegas, Nev. and is now training in Chile.

Corvalan is the first in the program’s history to earn a national team selection.

She played in all 18 games in her freshman season, starting in 17. Corvalan also played over 1,000 minutes in her first year on the team.

Corvalan totaled seven points on the season, which was good enough to tie for third on the team. She scored three goals and added an assist last fall.

Corvalan earned a Student-Athlete of the Week award last September for her game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory against Detroit Mercy. Now she is looking to develop her skillset training with an international team.

According to the team website, Corvalan had a tryout with the U-20 Chile team this month, running through several drills before being selected. She looks to utilize this experience to better her game.
