The Robert Morris women’s hockey team tabbed Liam Cavanagh as assistant coach to head coach Logan Bittle announced the move on Thursday.

Cavanagh is back for his second stint with the Colonials after spending the 2021-22 season with Dalhousie University. As an assistant coach with the Tigers, he served primarily as the goalie coach.

In his first stint with the Colonials, Cavanagh helped the team capture a 57-34-14 record over three years. While he was on the staff, he assisted the women’s team in capturing back to back College Hockey America’s regular season titles throughout the 2018-20 seasons.

He was with the team when they made three appearances in the College Hockey America championship game.

Along with coaching at Dalhousie and Robert Morris, Cavanagh was the director of hockey operations with Division III UMass-Boston. As a part of the Beacons staff, he helped achieve their first regular season and tournament titles since 1982 and their first ever NCAA Frozen Four appearance.
