Robert Morris graduate forward, Kahliel Spear, was named to the Horizon League Preseason All-League Second Team this afternoon.

The Texas native transferred to Robert Morris prior to the 2020-2021 season from Bucknell.

During his two seasons as a part of the Bison, Spear saw play in 46 games, starting in two of those contests.

While in his freshman season at Bucknell, the 6-foot-7 forward shot 43.8 percent, including 40 percent from beyond the arc.

During his sophomore season as a part of the Bison, he shot 52.4 percent from the floor,

which earned him the team high.

After the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season, Spear decided to transfer to RMU, where he would quickly become the star player of the Colonials Men’s Basketball Team.

While in his inaugural season as a Colonial under coach, Kahliel Spear earned appearances in 18 total games, starting in 10.

During that season, Spear finished third for RMU in scoring (9.9 points per game) and second in rebounding (5.2 rebounds per game) while scoring ten or more points in 10 contests.

His efforts during his first year as a Colonial earned him a starting role in the 2021-2022 season when he started all 32 contests. He was one of two Colonials to do so alongside guard Enoch Cheeks.

Last season, Spear led the team in many different categories, including scoring (14.7 points per game), rebounding (7.7 per game), field goal percentages, and blocks (35).

While he led the team in rebounding and scoring, Spear also ranked in these categories in the Horizon League. He ranked fourth in rebounding and 10th in scoring within the entire league.

He also registers eight double-doubles on the season for the Colonials. His first double-double of the season was registered on Nov. 19, where he also earned 14 points and 11 rebounds.

For all of his efforts as a Colonial the last two years on and off the court, last year Spear was awarded spots on the All-Horizon League Third Team and the Horizon League All-Academic Team, along with recently being named to the Horizon League Preseason All-League Second Team.
