MOON TOWNSHIP— Robert Morris took their unbeaten record into Horizon League play on Thursday as they took on Green Bay.

Robert Morris entered at (5-0-3, 0-0-1 Horizon) vs The Phoenix (2-3, 0-0-1 Horizon) RMU fought hard and was able to continue the trend and maintain unbeaten.

Head coach Chris Shaw knows that going undefeated in non-conference play doesn’t mean much and that the conference schedule is a completely different part of your season and they hope to keep the foot on the gas,

“Conference is a whole different situation now, What we did in non-conference doesn’t really mean anything we’re fighting to be in the top six and get into the conference tournament.”

While Robert Morris still got a point out of the game Head coach Chris Shaw said he was a little disappointed with not getting the win. With the Horizon League being so difficult they need to win at home.

“Wins aren’t easy to come by in the Horizon League I think from one through eleven, every team is very competitive there are no easy games, and there’s no doormat. So when we have a team like Green Bay who’s coming from ten hours away on the road we’ve got to take care of business at home.”

Robert Morris faced some threats from Green Bay coming down the wings but was able to handle it. The coach called Green Bay a “counter-attacking team” which definitely showed at certain times of the match but Robert Morris was able to handle it perfectly and got a clean sheet.

“They’ve got some pacey kids outside and some kids in the midfield that just work hard. When you play a team like that, that works hard you gotta move the ball a little bit quicker today I thought we were a little bit slow at times one or two extra touches that we didn’t need to take.”

Robert Morris was still able to dominate play and lead the game with nine shots to Green bay’s lonely one. RMU just wasn’t able to put one away today.

RMU will travel to Milwaukee on Sunday, Sept. 18 for an afternoon matchup.
