A boost has been given to the #SaveRMUHockey campaign and the Hockey is the Goal fundraiser. Media empire Barstool Sports have pledged to match every donation RMU hockey receives through Barstool Sportsbook and Casino.

Spittin’ Chiclets, a hockey podcast that is a part of the Barstool Sports network announced on Twitter Tuesday morning.

This is all to reinstate the division one men’s and women’s hockey teams that were cut in May. Barstool will match every deposit on Barstool Sportsbook and Casino up to $1.2 million, the donation goal for the Hockey is the Goal campaign.

Time is winding down to December 16, which will be the University’s decision on whether or not enough money has been raised for the resurrection of the programs.

The Pittsburgh College Hockey Foundation has been hard at work in efforts to save these programs. On Tuesday, they hosted an RMU Hockey rally at All-Star Sports Bar in Robinson and this Friday will also host a Golf Outing. In November, PCHF will also host a Pittsburgh all-star hockey game featuring alumni of RMU and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
