MOON TOWNSHIP- In a time full of uncertainty and unpredictability brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, one thing is certain for the Colonials men’s basketball program moving forward.

Head coach Andy Toole has agreed to a multi-year extension that will keep him under contract through the 2025-26 season, according to a tweet by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Toole holds a 188-154 (.550) overall record as the head man of the program and has earned two NCAA Tournament appearances since taking over before the 2010-11 season. He replaced Mike Rice Jr. after serving as an assistant coach since 2007.

RMU finished the year 20-14 before the shutdown and hoisted their final Northeast Conference championship trophy at home in the first season of the UPMC Events Center.

Toole has been at the helm of the most successful run in RMU basketball reaching five NEC championship games, two NIT appearances and qualified for the two NCAA Tournaments twice. The first was when the Colonials appeared in the 2015 tournament. They were scheduled to play in the tournament again in 2020 before the shutdown.

Toole will now guide the Colonials for at least six more seasons as the program transitions to the Horizon League and a new group of opponents.
