Tray Woodall promoted to assistant coach

Head Coach Andy Toole of the Robert Morris men’s basketball team announced on Tuesday that former Director of Basketball Operations Tray Woodall has been promoted to assistant coach for the Colonials.

“I’ve been impressed with how much Tray brings to the table to help our program on a day-to-day basis,” Toole said. “It seemed like a natural fit to promote him to assistant coach. I know that he’ll help our student-athletes continue to thrive both on the court and in the classroom.”

Tray Woodall joined the program before the 2017-2018 season after spending a year as an assistant coach for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks. That season, the Crimson Hawks went 28-4 with a 21-1 record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). That season, the Crimson Hawks made it to the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Tray Woodall is best known around Pittsburgh as the Pittsburgh Panthers point guard for four seasons that ended in his graduation in 2013. He had a successful stint playing for the Panthers with career totals of 1,108 points, 580 assists and 116 steals. He is one of seven players in program history to eclipse career totals of 1,000 points and 500 assists.

Woodall also has professional experience, as he played professional basketball in four countries. Those four countries are Turkey, Greece, Kosovo and Mexico.
