RMU women’s soccer has lost another valuable, important piece on their coach staff. Following the departure of head coach Chris Shaw early this year, Brianna Murgi has now left her role as assistant coach for an assistant role with Duquesne University.
Known for her scouting and local recruitment, Murgi served two years at RMU, helping turn recruits like Malia Kearns into Horizon League All-Freshman players and then a Horizon League All-Conference Second Team member.
The Pittsburgh native previously coached at Westminster before beginning her role with the Colonials. She acted interim for the team until RMU announced Michelle Rick as the new head coach.
Now Murgi joins a Duquesne team looking to push themselves over the hump after going 8-8-4 last season.
“We’re thrilled to add Bri to our coaching staff,” Duquesne head coach Al Alvine said. “She’s one of the top young coaches in the area. Bri is a tireless recruiter who will contribute to the growth and development of every facet of our program.”
Rick has yet to name a replacement. She and the Colonials begin their spring season in just two days, traveling to Seton Hill on Feb. 25.
