For the second time this year and the first time since opening weekend, Chad Veltri has won Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week.
The honor comes after an impressive sweep of his former team, Niagara, last week which saw the Colonial’s put seven goals in and concede only two. Veltri put up 88 saves and recorded a .978 save percentage. The 88 saves is the most by a goalie in the conference across a series.
The graduate put up this performance against his former team as well, something that makes the accomplishment maybe mean a bit more. To add on top of that comes the fact it was the Colonial’s first sweep this year, and was on the road.
Veltri and Robert Morris will face a stingey #12 ranked Arizona State next up at home. The Sun Devils are coming off back to back shootout wins against Dartmouth, leading the weekend series against RMU to looking like a good one.
You can catch the Colonials at Clearview Area Saturday December 16 at 5 P.M. on FloHockey and Sunday at 7 p.m. on Sportsnet Pittsburgh.
