This week, the Robert Morris women’s soccer team is set to face two Horizon League matches.

On Thursday, the Colonials will travel to Cleveland, Ohio to take on the Cleveland State Vikings. The Vikings are currently ranked 10th out of 11 teams in the Horizon League while the Colonials are ranked third.

While the Vikings are currently winless within the conference, the Colonials will have to keep an eye on Erica Leinweber and Brooke Opferman. Leinweber, a junior forward, has scored four goals in her 14 games played for the Vikings, and freshman midfielder, Opferman, has scored two and assisted two.

The Colonials will look to sophomore forwards Renae Mohrbacher and Malia Kearns to perform against the Vikings. The standout sophomores have combined for a total of 14 goals this season, seven goals apiece. Not only do they put the ball in the back of the net, but they also set up their teammates to score with Mohrbacher having six assists and Kearns having three.

If the Colonials win, they could push past IUPUI, who is second in the division, depending on their result against Oakland.

On Sunday, the Colonials will make the trek back home to face the Northern Kentucky Norse at the North Athletic Complex.

The Norse are ranked sixth in the Horizon League coming off of a two-game win-streak against Green Bay and Cleveland State. The Norse defeated Green Bay 4-1 while the Colonials defeated them 5-1. Their most recent game was against Cleveland State, who the Colonials play this Thursday, which resulted in a 1-0 victory for the Norse.

The Norse will look to sophomore defender, Lydia Self. Self has started all 15 games for the Norse and has netted two goals, both in the last three games.

The contest between these two teams ended in a 1-1 tie during the 2022 season. A win against the Norse could propel the Colonials ahead of IUPUI.

Both of these games will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
