Robert Morris Continues Horizon League Playoffs At Cleveland State
March 2, 2023
After a hard fought 67-64 victory on Tuesday night in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament against IUPUI, Robert Morris looks to continue this run in the playoffs tonight on the road against Cleveland State.
The key for RMU in tonight’s matchup will be their interior defense after they gave up 30 points in the paint against IUPUI.
The second half for RMU will need to be better, as well, as they were outscored second half, 44-33. Robert Morris will need to play a complete 40 minutes to have a chance to move onto Indianapolis.
On Tuesday, the Colonials were able to force 13 turnovers in the game against IUPUI, but were only able to get nine points from those steals so a key for them will be efficiency in their offensive possessions.
Cleveland State is coming off of a first round bye since they are the third seed in the tournament.
This season, the Vikings finished the season 19-12 (14-6 Horizon) with a home record of 12-3, including five wins in their last six games.
Robert Morris lost both of their matchups this season vs the Vikings with their most recent loss happening on Feb. 10 when they lost a narrow game 55-57 on a last-second tip-in. The Vikings also topped the Colonials 63-54 on Dec. 31, 2022.
The Colonials all-time against the Vikings is not in favor of the Colonials only winning two of their 11 games against them. RMU is currently on a seven-game losing streak, with their last win coming on Nov. 20th, 2012.
A player to watch for the Vikings is Junior forward Tristan Enaruna who is averaging 15.1 points a game and is also the teams leading rebounder getting with 6.6 boards a game.
For the Colonials, a player to watch for is Josh Corbin last game he was cold going 1-10 from the field. Corbin is averaging 10.3 points per game, when Corbin gets going and is making shots, the team offense flows better and the team plays more freely.
Besides Corbin, another player to look out for is graduate senior forward Kahliel Spear who on Tuesday put up 17 points in the win Tuesday and also produced 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Robert Morris will be without home court advantage tonight which helped them tremendously on Tuesday and gave them the energy they need to be put over the edge.
Robert Morris looks to advance to Indianapolis tonight and continue this run of a great season.
