On July 14, Robert Morris University went back on its decision to discontinue the Division I men’s and women’s ice hockey programs, saying that it would make efforts to fundraise for both teams’ potential return. They announced that during a later date they would re-evaluate how much money has been raised and discuss next steps at that moment, and the evaluation date falls this Saturday, July 31.

So far the numbers look promising, but assistance is still needed to help resurrect these teams. On the #SaveRMUHockey GoFundMe page, greater than $38,000 has been raised on top of over half a million dollars in private donations.

Teaming up with the newly created Pittsburgh College Hockey Foundation, RMU looks to raise an overall of $7 million dollars over the next five years. This announcement came after many other stories impacted this goal such as athletes transferring, board members stepping down, lawyers being hired and purchases being denied.

A final push is needed for these teams to be reinstated. Below are all the links that one will need to help donate to this movement and #SaveRMUHockey.

On a recent episode of Stack the Pads, RMU men’s hockey head coach Derek Schooley reiterated his immediate plea for help with these programs.

“Now that we have a clear path to reinstatement, we have to take advantage of that and make sure that we don’t have any regrets. I have had people tell me that they will donate when they get back from vacation, but we need to get this in as soon as possible because time is of the essence right now.”
