Higgins had one of the strongest seasons in Colonials history, becoming just the second Colonial to bat over .400, checking in at .415 on the season, second to Keri Meyer’s .418 in 2005. She was the most consistent offensive player this season, slashing .415/.465/.690, swatting 9 home runs, driving in 43 runs and smacking 10 doubles. She also now holds the school record for doubles with 42 in addition to becoming the fourth Colonial to reach 200 career hits.
Grover made a strong impression in her first season in Moon, slashing .250/.367/.435 with four home runs and 22 RBI. The Washington native showed strong discipline at the plate, walking 15 times and having an on-base percentage 117 points higher than her batting average.
The Colonials will take on the Penguins tomorrow at noon in Youngstown on ESPN3 with a trip to Omaha on the line.
