Earlier this afternoon, the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) preseason coaches poll was announced and Robert Morris ranks sixth out of ten teams in the conference. Robert Morris tied for sixth place on the poll with Air Force, each team garnering 49 points in the poll.

This ranking comes after an abbreviated 2019-20 season where the team went 13-19-5 overall and were in the midst of a tournament run as the seventh seed in the AHA playoffs, dispatching tenth seed Holy Cross in a 2-1 series victory. They were set to take on second-seeded Sacred Heart in the second round, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the remainder of the tournament was canceled and the teams never got to face off.

The official coaches poll is as follows:

1. American International (7 first-place votes) – 96 points

2. Sacred Heart (2 first-place votes) – 76 points

3. Bentley – 75 points

4. Niagara (1 first-place vote) – 69 points

5. Army-West Point – 60 points

T-6. Air Force – 49 points

T-6. Robert Morris – 49 points

8. Holy Cross – 27 points

T-9. Canisius – 18 points

T-9. Mercyhurst – 18 points

RMU is set to go for the upcoming season with eight new faces to counteract the seven seniors they lost after last year’s campaign. They will begin their season next Friday as they take on the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers for the team’s first action since March.
