WORCESTER, Mass.– Moon Township native and former men’s hockey forward Jake Coleman has signed with the Worcester Railers of the ECHL.

Coleman announced his signing via the Railers’ Twitter account on Thursday. The Railers are the ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders in the NHL.

Coleman skated in 133 games for the Colonials, while registering 16 goals and 24 assists, totaling 40 points. In his senior campaign, he was second on the team in goals, with nine, and in points, with 21, setting a career-high in both categories.

Preceding his time at RMU, Coleman skated with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League from 2013-2016. Coleman saw action in 53 total games with the Lumberjacks in which he tallied nine points. During the 2014-2015 season, Coleman played for the Keystone Ice Miners of the North American Hockey League, totaling 30 points in 55 games. That season he was named to the NAHL All-North Division Rookie Team for his efforts.

The 5-foot-7, 162 lbs. forward will bring his quick speed and playmaking abilities to the Railers as he looks to build on his future.

According to the team’s website, “Jake is a very coachable player that does things the right way,” Head Coach David Cunniff said. “When he has the puck he is able to use his speed off the rush and make plays that can generate second and third chances.”

Coleman becomes the 15th player rostered to the Worcester Railers for the 2020-2021 season, and the second confirmed member of last year’s men’s hockey senior class to sign a pro deal, joining Luke Lynch in the ECHL.
