MOON TOWNSHIP– On Thursday afternoon, RMU women’s hockey announced its captains for the 2020-21 season via Twitter. These spots were left vacant after the graduations of Jaycee Gebhard (C), Sarah Lecavalier (A), and Natalie Marcuzzi (A). The Colonials decided on a senior-heavy group of captains this year, much like last year.

Lexi Templeman, who served as an alternate captain last season, was named captain for this season. Last season, Templeman finished second on the roster in points, picking up 44 (11G-33A). She will return for her senior season looking to improve on this as one of the senior leaders.
“It’s a huge honor to be named captain of this program,” Templeman told RMU Athletics. “Our team has so many people that could be wearing a letter, and I think that’s what makes us so special. We have a really great leadership group that all bring different things to the table. I’m really looking forward to the season.”
Emily Curlett has always been one of the team’s leaders on the blue line, and that was furthered when she was named an alternate captain for the upcoming season. Last year, Curlett led RMU blue-liners in points with 36 and finished third on the entire roster. She picked up 17 goals, with 13 of them coming on the power-play, which led the team. Curlett has one of the best shots from the point and will try to continue to build her reputation as one of the best defenders this season; as well as maintaining her role as a defensive quarterback on this team.
Emilie Harley will also don the “A” for her senior season. Harley appeared in all 36 games last season for the Colonials and picked up three goals and 15 assists, including two goals on the power-play. Her 18 points were good for third on the team among defenders. Harley, who excels in the special teams moments of games, will look to maintain that this season.
The Colonials will attempt to improve on their conference-leading 13-5-2 record last season. While there is a lot of uncertainty for the upcoming campaign, the Colonials have a solid trio of captains regardless.
