December 29, 2018
MOON TOWNSHIP — The RMU men’s lacrosse team has recently announced their finalized schedule for the 2019 regular season.
Coming off a spectacular 2018 season in which Robert Morris went to the Northeast Conference championship and the NCAA tournament, RMU will be looking to repeat the history of that season when they kick off their regular season on the road on Feb. 9 when they visit the Penn State Nittany Lions.
While the Colonials kick off their season against No. 10 Penn State, the team will have many repeat opponents from last year in their quest to make it to the NCAA tournament again. Men’s lacrosse will be facing Georgetown, Cleveland State, High Point, Bellarmine, Canisius, Marquette and Lehigh in addition to Penn State in non-conference play.
Notably, the Colonials will be facing four teams that were named in the Inside Lacrosse Preseason Top-25 poll, including No. 13 Lehigh University Mountain Hawks, who were added as a late addition. The match against Lehigh is scheduled to be played on Wed. April 10 in Bethlehem, Pa. at a time to be determined.
After having participated in a historic postseason run for the Colonials, Robert Morris has been named No. 18 in the preseason poll for the 2019 season.
With many opponents coming for RMU, including nationally ranked teams, Robert Morris will be starting their home schedule on Sat. Feb. 23 at 12 p.m. when they host Bellarmine University and RMU will be starting their NEC schedule on Sat. March 16 when they travel to face the Sacred Heart University Pioneers for the start of conference season.
With the Colonials set to start their regular season on Feb. 9, the team will be concluding their season on April 27 at 1 p.m. when they host Hobart University for Senior Day in the NEC finale for Robert Morris in the penultimate game.
RMU will be returning a number of key players who helped contribute to the historic run that the Colonials had including Alex Heger, one of the top netminders in the country. Robert Morris looks to improve upon a historic season, that saw them win the NEC and make the NCAA tournament.
