True freshman wideout Warren Robinson was voted the Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after his stellar showing at home against Notre Dame (Ohio).

Robinson saw limited snaps on offense, but that is not where he shined. Hence the award.

As the punt return specialist, Robinson always finds ways to put the Colonials in good field position. This past weekend was no exception. He returned three punts for 89 yards total in the game.

But the one that earned Robinson the Special Teams award came late in the first quarter. A booming punt forced him to retreat and catch the ball over his shoulder, but the speedy return man quickly turned around, avoided multiple tackles, found a hole to the outside and scampered down the far sideline into the end zone for a 66-yard score.

This was the third consecutive week in which an RMU player won an NEC honor, while Robinson joins teammate Connor Shennan as the only players for Robert Morris to ever win this award.

Even more impressive, Robinson became the first NEC player to return a punt for a touchdown so far this season, and the second freshman to do so in the entire FCS.

The Colonials travel to South Dakota St. this Sat. to take on the eighth-ranked Jackrabbits of the Missouri Valley Conference.
