In the final non-conference match-up in the 2014-2015 season for the Robert Morris Colonials (2-9), they fell on the road to the Marshall Thundering Herd (8-3), 62-46, at the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, W.Va.

Anna Niki Stamolamprou led RMU in scoring with 12 points, all of which coming in the second half. Megan Smith chipped in with 10 points.

As a team, Robert Morris shot 29.6 percent from the field in the game. They also committed 22 turnovers, which turned into 26 points for Marshall.

The Herd jumped out of the gate in the first half with a 9-2 run. RMU then responded with a 12-3 run, sparked by a Smith three-pointer, to take a 14-12 lead with 6:34 to play in the half.

Marshall took the lead to close out the half, leading by a score of 22-18.

After a three-pointer from Megan Smith cut the deficit to one, the Herd began to pull away. They scored eight straight points, led by two treys by Leah Scott, to push the lead to 38-26 with 13:44 remaining.

Marshall then went on a five minute scoring drought, which allowed the Colonials to climb back to within four points. Although, Scott propelled a 14-2 run that eventually put away Robert Morris.

That run ended the contest with the Herd on top, 62-46.

The Colonials will open up Northeast Conference play on Jan. 3, when they take on Mount St. Mary’s at the Charles L. Sewall Center. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
