Chris Kushneriuk update

This past Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3, the Robert Morris University NCAA men’s hockey team hosted their “RMU Men’s Hockey Fights Cancer” weekend.  They did this in honor of former Colonials captain, Chris Kushneriuk, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer over the summer.

In a statement to RMU Sentry Media, Kushneriuk wanted to give everyone an update on how he is doing and also shed some light on what he has been going through:

“Back in June in the midst of my hockey training, I was getting checked for what I thought was a kidney stone, then the next day I’m in the Operating Room for stage 4 testicular cancer. My life has changed paths but I’ve been able to draw a lot of positives out of this. The experience has renewed my faith and made me realize how lucky I am to have so many amazing people in my life.”

In particular, he also has a message for those in the RMU community that have been supporting him in his battle against testicular cancer:

“I thank everyone at RMU from the bottom of my heart for looking out for me. I think it’s important to know that no matter how hard life seems to be, at the time, we still have a lot to be thankful for. I’m thankful for every day that I have another chance to fight this.”
