As the Colonials prepare to begin their third season in the Horizon League under Coach Jason O’Keefe, they look to improve from last season.

RMU ended their 2020-21 spring season with an overall record of 1-6-1; however, they did show slight improvements going into their fall 2021 season, posting an overall record of 5-10-1 with their conference record at 4-5-1 on the season.

Robert Morris University goes into the upcoming season with a young roster, as they only return three seniors, seven juniors, and one graduate student.

RMU will return sophomore midfielder Bryan Akongo, who was the top goal scorer for the Colonials during their fall campaign. Also returning to the team is senior goalkeeper Mike Zolnierczyk who ended the season with an overall record of 1-3 and a save percentage of 69.6%.

Robert Morris looks to begin the regular season against WVU in Morgantown after they compete in their second exhibition game against Mount Saint Mary’s on Aug. 20. Their season will consist of nine Horizon League Conference games.

After kicking off their season against the Mountaineers, the Colonials will return to Moon Township to play Duquesne before going on the road again to play Xavier.

After they finish their match in Cincinnati, RMU will play their first two Horizon League games against Northern Kentucky and Milwaukee.

The Colonials will return to the North Athletic Complex to take on Saint Francis on Sept. 21.

Robert Morris will then have another stint of Horizon League play starting with Purdue Fort Wayne at home, Oakland in Rochester, and Wright State back in Moon Township to start October.

The Colonials will then trek to Huntington, West Virginia, to take on the Thundering Herd of Marshall University.

They will then travel to Cleveland, Ohio, to play another Horizon League match against Cleveland State.

The last four matches of the year consist of matches against VMI, and their final three Horizon League matches of the season against Detroit Mercy, Green Bay, and IUPUI.

The Colonials look to improve from last season as they will play one more exhibition game against Mount Saint Mary’s before kicking off the regular season at WVU on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m.
